The Experience

Harriet Tubman guides you through the the historic Boston neighborhood of Beacon Hill sharing the stories and locations of the underground railroad.  Beacon Hill's north slope was home to a vibrant African American community in the 1800's.  Of those that walked its streets include some of the most prominent abolitionists.  When slaves from the south escaped the shackled of slavery the came to Beacon Hill to hide from the slave catchers of the south.  Harriet Tubman walked these streets, gave speeches and guided runaways to freedom.  On your walk you will see the safe houses of the underground railroad, walk through Beacon Hills historic alleys and relive their stories of freedom.  

Best time to go?

We suggest just as the sun is rising or at sunset.  This provides the best ambience.

Located in the oldest oldest black church in the USA and also the oldest school for African American students it is a must see stop in Boston.  visit maah.org to learn more.

The Liberty is an old prison converted into a luxury hotel.  Just across the street from Beacon Hill it's a great spot to start your experience.  Eat dinner in the CLINK, seated in old jail cells and dine on Boston's finest seafood.  Tips: The Salmon burger is a must try.
